CookieSmookie makes healthy cookies and smoothies with active substances

StartupRealities No 29

CookieSmookie is a producer of health foods that contain active substances integrated into attractive snack recipes such a cookies or smoothies. All CookieSmookie recipes are based on the latest scientific research and the active substances are added at the end of the preparation process in case high temperature or other processing may reduce the beneficial health effect of the active substance.

SCIENCE
Recent research on curcumin (the active substance in turmeric / curry powder); nobiletin (contained in oranges and tangerines); and lycopene (found in tomatoes) warrants consuming these substances in both natural form and as synthesised (extracted) ingredients. Lycopene is particularly remarkable: unlike other substances that are negatively impacted by heating, lycopene achieves even higher bioavailability if it undergoes cooking. This makes it an easy ingredient for cookie recipes.

CEO QUOTE
"We don't sell snake oils. For example, the health benefits of resveratrol (which is found in red wine and grape skin) have been put into question by recent medical research, so we do not include resveratrol in our health foods," said CookieSmookie founder and CEO Sam Cooke.

"Many vitamins and supplements are produced and sold as pills, which reduces their attractiveness to consumers. Our recipes use 'nudging' techniques that encourage consumption of CookieSmookies: we simply make products that people want to consume, such as cookies or smoothies. Active substances are added only if the latest scientific research overwhelmingly proves that there are unquestionable health benefits," Cooke added.
