StencilBooks publishes books with strictly 1-page-sized chapters

Image
Startup No 177 - StartupRealities 2020 series StencilBooks is a publisher which uses one-page-size chapters in all books it publishes. The company will publish a book only if the author complies with the 1-page rule: every chapter must be a stand-alone story and must be contained within a single page. CEO QUOTE "We bring discipline to the post-linear world. Wikipedia articles are non-linear while traditional books are linear. But why should novels be linear? Why can't a reader open a book at any random page and read a story and understand everything, without prerequisites? This is what we are changing in the world of publishing with our 1-page rule. If poems can show discipline by following a rhythm and a set of rhymes, so can novels and even non-fiction books be disciplined by following a strict format." said StencilBooks founder and CEO Stella Boocker . MatrixBiographies plots biography events on 2x2 matrix organised by year and theme

Image
StartupRealities No 165 MatrixBiographies is an online memoirs and biographies publisher which uses a matrix format for all its works. Readers are presented with an interactive online table of contents in the form of a 2x2 matrix (two-by-two matrix) where the horizontal axis represents calendar years while the vertical axis is dedicated to recurring topics and themes, e.g. personal relationships, profession and career, nature, travel, etc. Every paragraph is a stand-alone (up to half-page) story with a separate entry in the matrix, as MatrixBiographies relies on non-linear access to information: any story should be self-contained, although most stories also contain links to other stories. The matrix keeps track of entries that have already been opened/read and highlights them in a different colour. CEO QUOTE " Remember those distance tables on foldable maps where the road distance between cities is shown in a two-by-two matrix? This is what we are creating with our matrix bio...

CorporateJour publishes branded corporate scientific journals

Image
StartupRealities No 123 CorporateJour is a publishing house which helps major corporations launch and run peer-reviewed scientific journals in the field closest to the company's industry. For example, the Salesforce Journal of Digital Marketing and the Google Journal of Online Advertising are two of the company's existing or potential corporate journal projects. These scientific journals are different from a corporate magazine as they publish proper scientific research and the papers are reviewed by a board of editors. CEO QUOTE "A corporate magazine massages the ego of the CEO and the Board of a company. A corporate journal advances the scientific agenda of the industry by publishing relevant research, experiments, debates and conference proceedings. Our journals bring the future closer and sooner," said company founder and CEO Corazon Journaux. Peer review (image source: Wikipedia )
